Dean Eckert is a former air sickness bag collector who recently passed away in early 2004. Mr. Eckert was an art professor who lived in St. Charles, MO. He obtained his first bag on a trip to Greece in 1977 aboard Romania's Tarom Airlines. He wanted a souvenir and just grabbed a bag. Upon reflection, he thought, "When I get on planes from now on, I'll just take a bag."<P>I personally came upon the collection through the St. Louis Artists Guild, of which Dean was a member. From August 1 - September 18, 2004, the Guild featured an exhibit called "The Wondrous, The Whimsical, and the Weird: Objects From Private Collections.", in which Dean's bags resided. At the end of the exhibit, I contacted the Guild and we agreed that the Air Sickness Bag Museum was an appropriate venue to curate Mr. Ecker's collection. I thank the Guild and of course, the inimitable Dean Eckert.
